In April, Lloyds British completed a Crane modernisation for Guernsey Electric. To fit in with our Customer's schedule, Lloyds British branches in Wigan, Manager Lee Speight, and Southampton, Manager, Geoff Lamb, pooled their Engineering skills to deliver a complete Crane modernisation.
The Crane in question was a 20T Morris Centre Lift, which was replaced with an 8T unit, completely rewired, including a modernised drive system with an inverter drive on the long travel. The crane was also converted to full remote control. Due to the location and limited availability of test weights Lloyds British used another bit of innovation by deploying water weights to Load Test the finished unit.
Lloyds British ensured that the project was fully completed and commissioned within in the time slot allowed by our Customer.
As part of the hand over of the modernised unit Jim D'eath, recently retired Branch Manager from Southampton, went over to Guernsey to see the finished project and sign it off with the Customer.
